Program Description

In the first year you will be given an introduction to theory and practice, taking modules in acoustics, audio programming and music theory, studio engineering and mixdown, live sound engineering, and academic skills. In your second year you will continue your research and practice in studio engineering and production, including DSP theory and advanced mixdown and mastering using both hybrid and surround systems. You will explore key developments in music technology, and develop skills in synthesis and game sound. In your final year you will develop your professional practice and expand your skills, explore software and hardware interface design, practice in multimedia production, and develop music for image. You will also undertake your final project, which will be a significant piece of work such as an album, a video game or film soundtrack, or a dissertation.
