Affiliated with MillionPlus, the University of Wolverhampton is a highly-ranked public university in England with four campuses at West Midlands, Staffordshire, and Shropshire. The roots of the institution lie in 19th-century establishments named the Wolverhampton Tradesmen's and Mechanics' Institute and the Wolverhampton Free Library that offered general classes along with scientific, technical and commercial studies. It developed into a Technical College by 1926 and went through several structural and name changes over the years. It was granted the university status in the year 1992, under its current name.
