Program Description

The BA (Hons) in Digital Production Arts offers a ground-breaking approach to a dynamic subject area by utilising the latest technology in 3D imaging, scanning and printing to design, develop and produce a range of effects for theatre, film and television. The course is focused on employability and skills taught on the course will prepare graduates for a wide-range of careers in these key sectors. The course features a diverse range of skills required to succeed in the industry and focuses on: special effects make-up, prosthetics, prop construction, wig, costume, creature and puppet design, virtual and augmented reality, lighting and sound design. Teaching and learning is firmly focused on use of cutting-edge technology in digital scanning, photogrammetry, digital sculpting software, 3D printing and virtual reality. Within this course students learn traditional theatrical special effects media makeup and prosthetics alongside the emerging industry-standard trends of 3D scanning lifecasts, Zbrush digital sculpture, and 3D printed prosthetic moulds. These skills ensure our students are industry-ready and fully equipped to fill the skills gap that theatres and film studios are calling out for.
