About

Affiliated to the Church of England, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) is a highly-ranked public institution of higher education in Kent's historic city of Canterbury, England. The institution was originally set up as the Canterbury Christ Church College in 1962 to provide comprehensive teacher training. In 1995, the Privy Council granted it the degree-granting powers and hence the name Canterbury Christ Church University College. It was in the year 2005 that CCCU obtained the university status under its current name. In 2009, the Privy Council conferred CCCU the authority to award research degrees. The university has associations with MillionPlus, Cathedrals Group and the Universities at Medway. CCCU has its main campus in a beautiful setting at North Holmes in Canterbury and several other sites around the city. It also extends several programs at its campuses in Medway and Tunbridge Wells. The main source of information for research, teaching, and learning on the campus is the university library that holds a collection of rare and unique printed and digital resources. The university has partnerships with various transport companies and schemes that offer discounts to students and staff on travel.
