Program Description
The MEng (Hons) Civil Engineering program at the University of East London is a full-time, four-year degree course that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of civil engineering with a focus on practical learning and experience. The curriculum is designed to cover core concepts including structural engineering, environmental engineering, and transportation infrastructure. First two years comprise foundational study in mechanics, materials, and design with an emphasis on practical applications, while the third and fourth years are more specialized; including structural dynamics, geotechnical engineering, and hydraulics. The program aims to create skilled professionals, capable of addressing engineering challenges with creativity and precision. An important aspect of this degree is its industry ties; students have the opportunity to take on placements and internships with major civil engineering companies, allowing them to gain valuable work experience before they graduate. The course is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), which includes the Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Structural Engineers, offering a recognized qualification which can lead directly to professional chartered status.
