Program Description
Whether a student sees themselves working with a registered nurse to help provide patients physical, emotional, and social support, or assisting a medical team of doctors and nurses through record-keeping, order processing, and supply preparation, MITT’s Health Care Aide and Unit Clerk program has them covered: it is the only program in Manitoba that integrates health care aide and unit clerk curriculum. Students sharpen their knowledge and skills through theory, practice, and the real-world experiences they gain through work practicum rotations and position themselves for multiple paths to employment in health care upon graduation. And participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensure graduates enter the workforce with a strong foundation of employability and essential skills. Who it is for: Individuals who want a career in health care where they can provide patient support or help ensure the smooth operation of a medical unit, who are organized, and who have strong communications skills.
