Program Description

Telling compelling stories and providing context to relevant issues is what a career in television news is all about. With Fanshawe's Broadcast Journalism – Television News program, you'll learn the skills necessary to find the heart of every story, and the technical knowledge to share it with your audience. The television news business is changing. That's why you'll not only learn how to write effective news stories and shine in front of a camera, you'll also develop the skills to operate cameras, edit footage, write captivating news copy and conduct compelling interviews. As well, you'll learn the ins and outs of television production, directing and research. In the end, you'll be a versatile videographer, capable of adapting to any situation and work environment. You'll also have extensive access to an industry-leading live news studio, green screen facility and Canada’s premiere broadcasting centre. Two newsroom internship placements will give you the opportunity to make important industry connections - one placement ongoing throughout the program and another two-month internship during the final semester.
