Program Description

The Bachelor of Fine Arts - Drawing program is a 3-4 year bachelor's degree offered by the School of Art at the University of Manitoba. The School of Art offers degrees that cover the history, theory, and techniques of art. These programs provide a general cultural background as well as the technical education necessary to become an educator, or a professional creative artist in fine art or applied fields. The programs reflect the assumption that in a time of fluctuating cultural values, technical training alone is not sufficient for significant work in any branch of the arts. The first two years offer basic instruction in the fundamental principles of drawing, design and representation. In the fine arts studio electives in second year, the student selects courses that provide specialization in one or more of the following: ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, print media, sculpture and video.
