Program Description

As social beings, we shape and are shaped by society. With an eye to social justice and equity, Laurier’s Sociology program provides you with the analytic skills to understand how society works, and how we can go about changing it for the better. Sociology is the study of social life; it focuses on the linkages between individual experience and the wider society in which we live. Through the study of sociological theory and research methods, you'll be able to confront contemporary issues facing Canada and the surrounding world while you discover how you can be a part of meaningful change. Your education in sociology will be valuable to many careers in both the private and social sectors, including education, finance, business, marketing, health care, government and non-governmental agencies.
