Program Description

The Business Management degree with Hospitality is aligned closely to the service sector and experience economy. The sector is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors of the global economy, representing a significant proportion of gross domestic product in most western nations. Alongside this growth in economic impact, the sector has seen increasing professionalization on of those employed within it. The course will equip students with the knowledge and skills to assist in the development of a rewarding career in a dynamic and growing hospitality industry. This degree is multidisciplinary in its make-up, encompassing a range of theory and practice from the service sector and from business and management. These practices influence the variety and nature of the learning opportunities and experiences this programme offers. Themes include the study of the theory and practice of operational and strategic hospitality management of resources. The use of sustainability in design and operations, with methods of enquiry and critical analysis of business and management practices. The growth in technology trends such as virtual reality, recognition technology, mobile check-in, artificial intelligence and augmented reality are changing the shape of hospitality offerings. The increased need for cybersecurity and the use of big data to provide more personalised experiences and identify trends and forecast revenue has led to a more data driven approach to developing hospitality businesses.
