Program Description

his five-year degree plan is designed for students of Indigenous ancestry and leads to an Intermediate-Senior teaching credential in Indigenous Studies in Grades 7 through 12. Indigenous Language, French, or other subjects such as Geography may be integrated within this degree program to create an interesting and valuable teacher preparation experience. This degree program offers a great deal of flexibility and opportunity to “customize” the degree program for the needs of Indigenous students and their communities. Indigenous Studies is the first teachable for this five-year degree program (5 FCE required). Students must have a minimum of 3 FCE in the second teachable. Students who wish to pursue a language as a second teachable, either an Indigenous Language or French, must have a minimum of 5 FCEs in the teachable.
