Program Description

Your BA (Hons) Psychology studies will give you a firm grounding in the fundamentals of mind and behaviour. You’ll explore feelings and thoughts, brain function, emotions, personality, human development and more. You’ll: discover how our minds and behaviour are affected by social, economic, political, health and environmental changes explore topics such as the ‘nature or nurture’ debate, and the role of growth and development, gender, consciousness, perception, learning, memory, language, emotion, motivation and well-being in shaping the human mind and behaviour study the structure and function of the human brain, including the biology of cognitive processes as well as nervous system disorders examine how we think, with a focus on cognitive processes including attention, perception, problem-solving and decision-making explore the science of human differences, from personality types and cognitive styles to intelligence and mental health investigate the principles of mental health and psychopathology – the scientific study of mental health disorders and their treatments understand quantitative, qualitative and mixed research methods, how to generate and test hypotheses, and how to conduct research in an ethical way
