Program Description

The BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies program at the University of Portsmouth is a three-year full-time undergraduate degree. This course provides an intensive study on the growth and development of children and youth in contemporary society. Students gain theoretical knowledge on child and youth development, their rights, and the societal factors that play a vital role in their life. This course also focuses on researching the numerous aspects that impact a child/youth’s life. Assignments and projects push students to do fieldwork that improves their practical experience and understanding about the program. Students also take up certain placements and internships to engage with children and young people directly. The course is ideal for those who are planning a career in education, social care, healthcare, youth justice system or in charities related to children and youth. Moreover, the course also prepares students for postgraduate studies.
